Process
Throughout the course, learners delve into the depths of intercultural competence, exploring its meaning and significance. Learners also gain insights into the distinction between cultural humility and intercultural competence, enhancing understanding of cultural dynamics. As aspiring and current leaders discover how the globalized landscape impacts their roles, they learn strategies to effectively navigate cultural complexities. The course provides the skills, knowledge, and cultural awareness necessary to foster inclusive leadership and excel in diverse work environments. It set out to address the organization's problem of a lack of ability among new leaders to navigate team environments using intercultural competence.
Design and Development
I was given the challenge to disseminate a lot of information around cultural competency and communication. The content was very text heavy so I wanted to break it down and present it in small chunks so that I did not overwhelm the learner. This is especially important when creating experiences centered around identity and interucultural things. The last thing I wanted was for a learner to shut down due to being overwhelmed.
Created on Rise 360, this course incorporates a variety of interactive elements, including;

- matching knowledge checks
The course afeatures a concludng scenario with several scenes. Here the learner is challenged to apply your intercultural competence in real-life situations. I also utilized bulleted lists and tables to help present the information in an easy to understand way. I was intentional with the images I selected as well aiming to present a diverse array of people and culutural practices so that learners could get that visual and perhaps feel represented in the images.
Project results
The "Bridging Worlds: Unlocking the Power of Intercultural Competency" course on Rise 360 equipped learners with the knowledge and skills to navigate cultural complexities in today's interconnected world. Learners have emerged from this course with enhanced cultural awareness, empathy, and a deepened understanding of the complexities of intercultural interactions. They have developed practical skills to bridge cultural gaps, enabling them to foster inclusive work environments and build strong relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
As an instructional designer, I take pride in creating impactful and engaging courses that empower individuals to embrace diversity, bridge cultural gaps, and thrive in multicultural settings. The "Bridging Worlds" course stands as an example of my experience in designing interactive and immersive learning experiences that promote cultural competence and empower leaders to make a positive impact.
