About Me

After earning my Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership, I started my career in student support, working in Residential Life at three different colleges and universities in California, Kansas, and Oregon. During my five years in higher education, I supported students in crisis, helped build community, led and hired various teams of student leaders, and worked in a collaborative environment. My experience with instructional design started with helping students develop themselves and their peers to effect change in their respective communities. This work involved creating instructional content and facilitating in-person workshops for fall and spring staff onboarding. Working in higher education left me with a deep appreciation for equitable support and helping others grow.

In the summer of 2022, I began exploring freelance opportunities in instructional design. At this time I also started to pursue my Master of Science in Learning Design and Technology degree which I completed in December 2023. Through my time as an Instructional Designer and higher education professional, I discovered several parallels between my work in supporting and mentoring students and designing learning experiences. My background in higher education and further education in learning design enriches my design approach and strengthens my commitment to crafting engaging, accessible, and effective learning solutions. I'm a designer who draws upon my strengths and past experiences while continuously developing my skills and adapting to new technologies and approaches. I'm interested in advancements in technologies like VR and gaming and how they will impact how learners interact with course content.

Outside of work, I balance out my interests in learning design by spending time outdoors, reading, listening to audiobooks, and road-tripping with my dachshund, Jefe.
